Welcome to the Website of Eastern Dooars B.Ed Training College under the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University. There has been a long felt need of establishing a new B.Ed. as well as M.Ed. College for the Students of Jalpaiguri, especially of Dooars, Eastern part of Alipurduar and Cooch Behar with a view to giving scope to the teacher education degree to enhance skill and competency to join in the Teaching Profession. Such degree, now in a knowledge based society, may be treated as an essential prerequisite for becoming a teacher in a Secondary / Higher Secondary Schools.
The motto of the college is “GYANM SARVOTTAM SAMPDA”. Eastern Dooars B.Ed. Training College, Bhatibari, Alipurduar (W.B.), 736121 was established with the aim to provide quality teachers education under the Geographical Society of North Bengal, Thana more, Alipurduar, Pin code 736122 on 29th October 2003 Vide Registration No. S/IL/17258/2003-04 under the Society Registration Act XXVI, 1961 .The College was initially recognized by the NCTE, New Delhi vide Letter No. ERC/7-70.6.3/2006/ 3839(1) dated 31st October, 2006 for conducting B.Ed. programme of one year duration from the academic session 2006-2007 with an annual intake of 100 students, M.Ed. programme of the college was recognized by the NCTE, New Delhi vide Letter No. ERC/7- 92.6(1).12/2009/15759 dated, March 17th, 2009 for conducting M.Ed. programme of one year duration with an annual intake of 25 from the academic session 2009-2010.

The college was initially affiliated to the University of North Bengal with its B.Ed programme since 07/12/2006 vide letter No 307/84/Insp-06 dated on 7/12/2006. The affiliation was extended to the M.Ed programme since 14/08/2009 vide letter No F.87/ACL/M.Ed./09-10/261 dated on 14-08-2009. After renewal of NCTE recognition of both the B.Ed and M.Ed programmes vide letters No  F.ERC/NCTE/APE00557/B.Ed./Revised Order/2015/32425 dated on 30.05.2015 and F.ERC/NCTE/ERCAPE 00826/M.ED. (Revised Order)/2015/32332 dated on 28.05.2015, the duration of the both  programmes were changed from one year to two year duration. The affiliation for B.Ed retained with the University of North Bengal vide letter No No.64/37/insp-16 dated on 21/10/2016. But the affiliation for the M.Ed programme was shifted to the West Bengal University of Teachers Training Education Planning and Administration (W.B.), Kolkata vide letter No WBUTTEPA/AFFL/M.Ed/2015/01101 dated 28/05/2015. The affiliation of the B.Ed programme also shifted to the West Bengal University of Teachers Training Education Planning and Administration (W.B.), Kolkata in 2017 vide letter No WBUTTEPA/AFFL/B.Ed/2017/01001 dated 11/01/2017.

On 27 June 2022, Govt of West Bengal changed the name of the West Bengal University of Teachers Training Education Planning and Administration (W.B.), Kolkata into Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University, Kolkata. Consequently the affiliation of the B.ed & M.ed programmes of the College shifted to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University, Kolkata.    

The D.El.Ed programme of the College was initiated in 2018 with recognition of NCTE vide letter No F.No.Er-249.6.3(Part-1)/ERCAPP1612/D.El.Ed/2018/56139 dated 23/02/2018. The D.El.Ed is a two year diploma programme. This programme is affiliated with West Bengal Board of Primary Education vide Memo No 595/AFFIL/BPE/2018 dated 09/03/2018.

The college has adequate number of faculties, support staff, infrastructure and a well maintained campus. In fact this College earned a good reputation for its teaching, learning and outreach activities. It has already overcome its locational disadvantage by its outstanding performance.
